Customers often ask me what my favorite ingredient is to work with! So hard to choose, there's SO MANY! But virgin (unrefined) African shea butter has to be near the top of the list! It's SO FANTASTIC IN SOAP! You can even use shea butter straight on any dry areas for instant relief (cracked heels, elbows, hands)! I use it as fully 5% of our popular Rustic Soap Collection soaps. http://simplysoap.com/rustic-soaps.php I order my shea butter from a coop that purchases from African women of Ghana, who hand-crush the shea nuts into butter! Purchasing from them supplies much-needed jobs ....something else to feel good about, besides gently-cleaned, well-moisturized, gloriously scented (or unscented) SKIN!

Handmade Soap - UNSCENTED Soaps!

Customers often ask me "So what's YOUR favorite soap?"...and are surprised when I say "my unscented soap", given all the scented-soaps I have available to me at any given time, I guess this does seem unusual!  But truth is (and what led me into soapmaking in the first place), is I have very sensitive skin.  Change in the weather can exacerbate this, too!  Especially HOT weather! Unscented just keeps my skin on a more even keel, and MANY, MANY of my customers are the same way or have sensitive skin for a myriad of reasons!  

We've grown to having 5 different unscented soaps!

- African Black Magic (Ancient Alchemy line) - made in the tradition of African Black Soap!

- Bar None with Oats - the soothing benefits of oatmeal!

- Hawthorn, Daisy & Feverfew - filled with ground botanicals known for their soothing effects on inflamed, irritated skin!

- Soothe & Smooth  (Rustic Soap line) - also filled with skin-soothign botanicals and herbs, and made sans coconut oil for those sensitive to it.

- Simply Organic Soap - made with certified organic oils.

We've created our own Amas Veritas with the passion-invoking essential oils of patchouli, sandalwood, rosewood, ylang ylang and fragrance of star jasmine, with a sprinkling of crushed red rose petals throughout, and the entire bar enriched with rosehip seed oil---pricey oil, but nothing enriches and drenches your skin so luxuriantly in moisture! Bathe with this soap prior to love rituals and to attract love with it's fragrant and earthy aromatherapy benefits! Like casting a love spell!

It also makes a highly effective deodorizing HAND SOAP sink-side in the kitchen to help remove onion, garlic and just about any kind of smelliness you can cook-up! Surely you've heard of therapeutic mud baths.....but did you know bog or moor peat is extraordinarily nutrient-rich and excellent for the skin, especially for eczema and acne conditions? One of the main curative effects of peat is the heat effect when warmed-up peat expands. This was long-ago discovered by the people in the Transylvanian region of Romania where peat bogs are abundant. Peat-effects consist of overall warming of the body and the organic-minerals help open pores and draw out impurities, decongesting skin for better blood flow and texture. Best to lather up and let the suds remain on your skin awhile before rinsing! We've scented this bar with an earthy-tangy scent blend of lime and patchouli essential oils We order our peat directly from Transylvania, and I must say, our shipment delivery guy is highly suspicious of what I am ordering from TRANSYLVANIA! (I prefer to keep him in mystery!) Mwhahahaha!
